On Saturday, September 17th, members of our Elizabeth Seton Children's community, along with the congregation of the Sisters of Charity of New York, gathered to witness a very special moment for one of our beloved residents and International Spokesperson, Stephanie.
Friends and family joined for the Sisters of Charity of New York's Associate Commitment Ceremony at the College of Mount Saint Vincent's Chapel of the Immaculate Conception to celebrate Stephanie becoming an Associate. All in attendance felt the immense joy radiating from Stephanie on her special day.
"I had a very happy, spiritual feeling when I was there," said Stephanie. "I was beaming."
Associates are laypeople, who, like Stephanie, dedicate themselves to living out the Sisters of Charity's ministry by responding to the signs of the times and revealing God's love for all in need, especially the poor. Associates choose to live the charism and mission of the congregation through their own relationships, in their homes and communities and beyond.
Stephanie has always relied on her strong faith to guide her through both the challenges and triumphs of life and is deeply inspired by our foundress, St. Elizabeth Seton. When asked what this new chapter will bring, Stephanie spoke with the candid confidence of a young woman poised to embrace her calling.
"It was a really important day I've been dreaming about since I was 3 years old. The Sisters of Charity mean a lot to me and I'm continuing their legacy and Mother Seton's legacy. I want to continue to do more work with the young adult center," Stephanie said, adding, with determination, "I want to help others."
