Dunkin' Joy in Childhood Foundation Helps Make Prom Dreams Come True

June 8, 2026

Teens and young adults residing at Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center gathered for a day of celebration, connection and cherished memories at this year’s prom, hosted on May 29, 2026. A $45,000 grant, the fourth consecutive gift from the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, funded “Dunkin’ Prom Presents Enchanted Oasis.”

Prom has become a beloved and defining tradition at Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center. The high level of medical acuity of the young people who reside at the children’s center means that traditional high school experiences aren’t always possible. However, Elizabeth Seton Children’s strives to provide opportunities for all children, teens and young adults to experience the fullness of life, including milestones like prom.

“What happens at prom is far more than a celebration – it is a moment of recognition, togetherness and joy that stays with our young adults and their families forever,” said Pat Tursi, CEO of Elizabeth Seton Children’s. “Dressed in their prom best, residents arrived to applause, cameras and the unmistakable joy of being celebrated for who they are. For families who thought that prom was an impossibility for their son or daughter, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation has made this dream come true. It is one of the most powerful reminders of why we do this work.”

As part of this time-honored occasion, a prom king and queen were crowned, family members took part in special dances with their children and attendees enjoyed delicious food and refreshments. The event was enhanced by a DJ and dance troupe, a photo booth, multisensory activities and sensory stations, professional hair and makeup artists, goodies from Dunkin’ and more.
